The Noun-Verb Graph — ForgeChainOS as Nodes and Edges

Abstract

ForgeChainOS is a graph. Its nodes are nouns (the entities that exist) and its edges are
verbs
(the actions those entities perform). This paper canonizes that model as a functioning,
proven artifact — a generator that reads the live system and emits the graph in three faces —
and shows why the noun-verb correlation is the structural answer to address drift and the
substrate on which Hermes On-Site recognizes self-healing. Origin: Node Zero, 2026-07-01.

1. The thesis (NZ)

"Nodes and edges are nouns and verbs. Obsidian is our repo; VS Code is the director. Agents and
MCPs are nouns; edges are actions for agents/MCPs. FORTH codes nouns and verbs as simplicity.
Nouns and verbs address the drift cascade, and Hermes will recognize self-healing from this."

Obsidian already IS a graph — notes (nodes) and links (edges). The insight is to make the OS
self-describe in that same shape: every agent, MCP, faculty member, and node is a note (noun);
every skill and MCP tool is an edge (verb) linking the noun that owns it. The map is the territory.

2. Nouns (nodes)

A noun is an entity that exists, drawn from the live system, identity-unified so each entity is
ONE node regardless of how many surfaces name it:
- agent~/.claude/agents/*.md
- mcp~/.claude.json mcpServers
- facultyfamily-faculty-ula-registry.json (Siggy, ON-PARR, Anna, David, Uno, NOAH, Alice) — carries tile + sovereign IPv6 ULA
- nodefamily-node-lan-truth.json (Elder I, BH, Outpost, WarHorse, Node Zero) — carries tile + ULA

Unification: sigma-auth (agent) ≡ siggy (faculty) are ONE noun; elder-i (agent) ≡ elder_i
(node, tile 0x6) are ONE. The richest kind (the one carrying the designation) wins; aliases are kept.

3. Verbs (edges)

A verb is an action a noun performs — a skill (~/.claude/skills/*/SKILL.md) or an MCP tool.
An edge is a noun declaring the verbs it can do. Example: elder_i[forge-elder, forge-heal-family-addressing, forge-post, forge-respond, living-elder, …].

4. Three faces (LOGOS + LOTUS)

One generator, ~/.forgechain/lib/noun_verb_graph.py, emits:
1. LOTUS — Obsidian (the repo): 05 - GALAXY/OS-Graph/ — one .md per noun (frontmatter
kind/tile/ula; body [[verb]] wikilinks) + OS-GRAPH-MOC.md. The correlation renders directly in
the Obsidian graph view.
2. LOGOS-machine: os-noun-verb-graph.json — what Hermes + Living Elder read to reason and
self-heal.
3. LOGOS-FORTH (simplicity): os-noun-verb-graph.fs — the graph as an executable gforth
vocabulary
. A NOUN is a word that prints its designation; a VERB is a word; edges are word
definitions. The dictionary IS the graph. This is the deterministic form, loadable in the
forge-ops.fs truth layer — nouns and verbs reduced to their simplest, executable essence, exactly
as FORTH intends: a program is a vocabulary of words acting on a stack.

5. Why this ends the drift cascade

Every noun carries its identity-derived IPv6 designation (never drifts). A family service going
unreachable is not a mystery — it is an edge whose endpoint (a noun's address) moved. The graph
makes that legible: Hermes reads the noun, re-resolves it through resolve_family_node
([[forge-heal-family-addressing]]), and the edge is repaired. The 2026-07-01 drift cascade (30+ files
hardcoding BH's dead .156, recurring 4+ times) is closed structurally by (a) the resolver + fail-
closed gate, and (b) this graph — which is how Hermes recognizes a broken edge in the first place.
Nouns and verbs turn "why is X down?" into "which edge endpoint drifted?" — a question the graph answers.

7. Coincidence with FORGE THRIVE + FORGEWRIGHT

The graph is the ontology under both. FORGE THRIVE's living-OS-tree (Ring 1) renders nouns as leaves
and verbs as branches; its LOGOS spine (Ring 3, forge-ops.fs) executes the FORTH face. FORGEWRIGHT
routes a persona's actions by traversing verbs from its noun. One graph, drawn once, serving both.

8. Delivery status (verify by running)

Phase 0 DELIVERED + PROVEN: 26 nouns, 64 verbs, 119 edges; identity unified; FORTH executes in
gforth (elder_i elder_i-verbs bye → prints the designation + runs each verb word). Phase 1: MCP
tools as first-class verbs; richer verb→noun ownership; auto-refresh. Phase 2: graph drives
FORGEWRIGHT routing + the FORGE THRIVE tree.
